Affiliate Disclosure

DigInGuide is a free resource for gardeners – whether you’re growing houseplants, building compost bins, caring for your lawn, or planting your first vegetable garden. Creating and maintaining this content takes real time and effort. To cover those costs without charging readers, we earn revenue through ads and affiliate partnerships.

Here’s how that works.

How We Earn Revenue

Google AdSense Display Ads
You’ll see ads on our pages served through Google AdSense, a third-party ad platform run by Google. These ads bring in revenue through impressions and clicks, and they’re the primary way we fund the site.

Affiliate Links
Certain articles include links to products or services sold by third-party retailers. If you click one of those links and complete a purchase, we may earn a small commission from that sale.

FTC Compliance
We follow the Federal Trade Commission’s endorsement guidelines (16 CFR Part 255). Any material connection between DigInGuide and a product or service referenced on the site is disclosed. Articles with affiliate links include a clear notice.

What This Means for You

Using an affiliate link costs you nothing extra. The product price stays the same – the retailer pays us a small referral fee out of their own margin.

We include affiliate links only for products and services we genuinely think are worth your time and money. A product we wouldn’t use in our own gardens won’t show up on this site.

Affiliate partnerships do not shape our editorial opinions. If a product has shortcomings, we’ll say so.

Google AdSense

Google AdSense places third-party advertisements on our pages. Depending on your cookie settings, Google may show you personalized ads based on your browsing activity or non-personalized ads that are not tied to your history.

You can manage your ad preferences at Google Ad Settings. To learn more about how Google handles advertising data, visit Google’s Privacy & Terms.

How to Identify Affiliate Links

When an article includes affiliate links, you’ll typically see a brief disclosure near the top of the post. Some affiliate links may also be noted within the text itself so there’s no guessing involved.

If you’re ever uncertain whether a specific link is an affiliate link, just ask us.
